This week the New South Wales Government released its response to the Inquiry into the Management and Operations of the New South Wales Ambulance Service. To say that that response is disappointing is an understatement.

I appreciate the comments and contributions made by committee members. However, for the Hon. Tony Catanzariti to say that this inquiry was politically driven is to do a huge disservice to the ambulance officers who have suffered a great deal and who continue to suffer in a service that is often dysfunctional and very unsupportive with regard to bullying and harassment.

In speaking on behalf of the Liberal-Nationals Coalition to the Children Legislation Amendment (Wood Inquiry Recommendations) Bill 2009 I shall refer to the commitment by all members of this Chamber to this very important legislation.

Yesterday I hosted a visit to the Hunter region by the shadow Minister for Eduction and Training, Adrian Piccoli—he as a Nationals member and I as a Country Liberal.
