I support the motion of the Hon. Marie Ficarra. In doing so I note that a number of comments she made are supported—unlike those made by the Hon. Helen Westwood—by numerous reports made to the inquiry conducted by General Purpose Standing Committee No. 2 and subsequent media reports.

I support the motion of the Hon. Melinda Pavey because it is essential to get to the bottom of what is going on in the New South Wales Ambulance Service. Report after report has failed to achieve any significant change in that service, and significant change is needed.

The Children and Young Persons (Care and Protection) Amendment Bill 2009 amends the Children and Young Persons (Care and Protection) Act 1998.

Last night the Rudd Government finally agreed to fund what is now known as the Hunter Expressway: the F3 Seahampton to Branxton road link. That was possible because of the planning previously done by the Howard Government, which meant that the plans were sufficiently advanced for the incompetent Rees Government to be able to submit them in an acceptable form for funding. This work will take at least five years to complete.
