Raymond Terrace Police Station

 I have a very real concern about the fate of plans for Raymond Terrace police station and the short time frame in which the fate of the station has changed. I will briefly outline a sad tale about the people of Raymond Terrace and Port Stephens. The people of Port Stephens wanted a new police station and had called for it for a long time. Finally, it seemed that their wishes had come true when the budget papers for 1996-97 allocated approximately $2.6 million for a major new works program to be completed in 1999.

Inaugural Speech & Local Government Amendment (National Competition Policy Review) Bill

I support the Local Government Amendment (National Competition Policy Review) Bill. I have long wanted to sit in this place on these red benches, but to sit here in silence has been agonising. Those who know me know that sitting still and in silence is not something I do well!
